Hackney Chinese invites you for a taste of home.
Si Fang Cai is a new dining club that will take place every few months in Hackney Chinese Community Services, featuring food from chefs from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Fixed priced set menus will feature home-style cooking, enjoyed at circular tables in the tradition of Chinese family-style dining. Expect to see off-menu items and unexpected cross-cultural collaborations.
Si Fang Cai (私房菜) literally means ‘private room dish’. It is the Chinese version of a speakeasy supper club and its origin dates back to the Ming Dynasty.
Si Fang Cai is a fundraising initiative by Celestial Peach and HCCS. All proceeds from Si Fang Cai will help to fund the Old Bath Community House project, steered by HCCS. The dilapidated bathhouse is currently being renovated into a modern and dynamic multicultural centre with a community kitchen at its heart, launching in 2021 as the UK’s first centre for East and South East Asian communities.
